Mara Servilio is Research Fellow at the Department of Information Engineering Computer Science and Mathematics of the University of L'Aquila.
Before the current position, she had a fixed-term researcher position in Operations Research (2008-2011), a post-doc fellowship (2006-2007) and a grant (2004-2005) at the Computer Science  Department of the University of L'Aquila.
Mara Servilio got a Laurea Degree in Mathematics at the University of L'Aquila and a  Ph.D in Computer Science and Automation from the University Roma Tre under the supervision of Prof. Claudio Arbib and Prof. Dario Pacciarelli. She was visiting scholar at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Bruxelles, Belgium) for a collaboration with Prof. Martine Labbé (January 2004 - May 2004) and at the University Otto-von-Guericke (Magdeburg, Germany) for a collaboration with Prof. Robert Weismantel and Prof. Annegret Wagler (September 2005 - October 2005 and January 2006 - February 2006).

Her research activity mainly deals with Combinatorial Optimization and Scheduling with particular attention to applications. The major interest focuses on:
In the former area, the main contributions concern computational complexity, polyhedral properties, and the development of heuristics and exact algorithms.
Shift Scheduling have been approached by mixed-integer programming. A specific optimization model was studied and a heuristic algorithm implemented and tested. The algorithm forms the core of a decision support system currently in use in a major Italian telephone Company.
